If I'm playing a game I really enjoy playing, I stop once I start getting a headache from focusing on the screen for too long.

No, dont blame the kid, blame the freaking parents...
Its the one thing that pisses me off beyond anything... "Its the video games fault that my 7 year old son shot his best friend, not his fault!!"
WELL, WHAT PARENT BUYS THEIR 7 YEAR OLD KID GAMES THAT ARE RATED M!
When GTA4 came out this year, i was warning parents left and right that GTA4 was rated M for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY and they said "i dont know, i dont care, its for my 10 year old" WTF!! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND, YOU STUPID RETARD...
ugh.... this rant could go on and on so i may rant about it in the rant section... look for it later!

Mmm, I'd give my kid some sort of maturity exam before I let him play a game like GTA4.
Never the less, WoW strikes again. But I guess it has over 6 million players so 1 out of every 100,000 isn't so bad.
...
I forget everything else I was going to say... to another thread!

WEAk, my friends and I hit off an Mmorpg contest everysummer break. We would get all our computers to one room, get the best connections, uninstall everything that may disturb us and play the first week away with little bathroom breaks, middle of us is a huge mini fridge with monster drinks up the you know what. Then we would bring w/e candy and such and place it all around us. one year, my friend actually hooked his $#^Y#@! to a tube that went down to one of the huge water bottles. I would tape 5 pez dispensers on my arm and eat from them. One of my friend conditioned himself to not crap for like 3 days. I'd like to say that I only fainted once! and it was cause I found a really rare item..........lol- to note this is not me typing but his cuzin ALL HAIL SAINT!

Lol, I agree completely. I don't think I've ever played any game for 24hours straight before. These days I barely have time for 4-5 hour gaming sessions. When I was younger I would play for long stretches, but only up to 16-18hours at most. Anything more and I'd get a splitting headache.

olol that's only if you put your laptop over your lap..or wait is there a connection between sleep, brain memory, brain development, body development...oshit..there is
osteoporosis
obesity
lack of sleep/memory
blurry vision
tense muscles
stress
5% less performance in future
in exchange
more neuropathways
bigger map of the virtual world
brain recircuited for multi-tasking (<- is impossible) and shallow thinking and real-time movements
faster eye movements and reflexes
rest -> 5 - 30 mins (nap) takes 15 mins to fall asleep, if sooner = sleep deprived
sleep cycle = 90 mins

Exposure to noise at night can suppress immune function even if the sleeper doesn’t wake. Unfamiliar noise, and noise during the first and last two hours of sleep, has the greatest disruptive effect on the sleep cycle.
|
Quote:

Tiny luminous rays from a digital alarm clock can be enough to disrupt the sleep cycle even if you do not fully wake. The light turns off a "neural switch" in the brain, causing levels of a key sleep chemical to decline within minutes.

Eh I'd rather not have obesity, just saying anyone who even thinks about 24 hours shouldn't be TOO new too it ._.
I mean.. I used to go like 16 hours some Saturdays when my parents went to work and I was in my Trickser Obsession mode...

Sure... you could always do that, but the kid is at fault too.
