You may be thinking, "What does Veteran's Day have to do with a game forum?" I know at least 4 members that are veterans and one currently on active duty; she's probably on a ship somewhere in the Pacific Ocean right now. And, if you didn't know, MMOG is owned by a 6 year veteran of the US Air Force. This is written for the US Veterans but the intent goes out to all veterans of all services worldwide.
Whether or not you believe in the wars, in the government, or society as a whole, these men and women deserve recognition. They have volunteered to answer a nation's call to arms so you do not. They have given parts of their lives - or in some cases their life - so that you do not. It is that dedication and selflessness that Veteran's Day celebrates - not the wars or politics.
To those that served and those that are serving - thank you. Thank you for giving up your freedom so others may be free. Thank you for risking your life so others may live. Thank you for staying up all night accomplishing your mission so those back home can sleep in peace. Your service is appreciated and the nation is in your debt. To those that are currently serving - you're not alone. Some of us have been there and know exactly what you're going through. Keep at it, fight the good fight, and don't lose spirit. Whether you be at home, at sea, in the air, or on distant shores, you are in our thoughts this day.
... and to those that paid the ultimate price - we live on because of you.
Paul Stout, SSgt, USAF - 2002-2008
