No Sound [XP]

Alright so I've been using sound on my Dino PC for years, but 3 weeks ago it just randomly stopped working and I have no clue what went wrong. I thought it might be a hardware problem, but I'm here to make sure of that.

Audio isn't my area, so bare with me...

The problem is there is no input/output sound. I used to use Ventrillo and Skype everyday but neither of them work. No music, youtube, etc etc.

When I plug in a microphone it's not even recognized.

I have the AC97 Audio Codec on Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2.

That's what I've been telling everyone, but I just want to make sure because I promised myself I wouldn't put anymore $ into this PoS PC.

I'm buying a new one very soon anyways =/

So how to check if the sound card is screwed?

Do you have on board sound? Did you tried it yet? Tried even with reinstalling latest drivers?

Hmm no, I haven't I. I wouldn't know how to.

In fact, I bought this thing stock, so I don't even know if it uses a card or onboard. o_O

And the latest drivers for which hardware?

For your soundcard, obviously.

Anyway, what I mean by onboard, is there any sound jack port beside your sound card @ your back panel?
