Here on MMOG we have a reputation system, which helps to recognize helpful members, and unhelpful ones. This system can be good for giving members recognition for doing good deeds or negative ones for bad deeds.
Here I will explain how to use it, and when you should use it.
New!: Thanks to Vegeance for making this quick tutorial video. You may view it
here.
Reasons to give Positive Reputation - - If you had a question, and someone gave you the correct answer.
- If a members post helped you out in any way.
- If a member made a nice contribution. (Guides, helpful tools ect.)
Reasons to give Negative Reputation - - Members post hijacks the thread or attempts to go off topic.
- Member post is uninformative and was not intended to help you.
- Member says a comment you find to be rude, or uncalled for.
If you don't know how to give reputation, here is a small guide.
---------
Important Note: You must have a Minimum of 50 Posts, to give reputation
On the post that want to give positive or negative reputation on, on the left there is a + sign, you click that and a small box appears.
Giving Positive Reputation -
here you would click
I Approve, and type out your reason.
Giving Negative Reputation -
here you would click
I Disagree, then type out your reason.
It must be a good reason, or the member won't learn from their mistake!
After you click
Add to Reputation, the user is notified and can see your reason in his/her UserCP.
Note: You must give 10 Reputation to others before you can give the same person any more reputation, and you may only give 10 Reputation per day.
Note: Reputation is anonymous, they will only see the reason for it, not your name.
-------------
About the Green/Red Boxes in members profile -
After enough accumulated Positive Reputation, the Member will start to get more green boxes under their name. More boxes mean the member has preformed many good deeds, and is well liked and looked up too. (so to say)
(When the member accumulates so much positive reputation, the boxes will become brighter, and stand out more)

After enough accumulated Negative Reputation, the Member will start to get Red boxes under their name. More boxes mean the member has not been the best with his/her posts, is very ill at helping others or disobeying rules.
(When the member accumulates so much negative reputation, the boxes will become brighter, and stand out more)

-----
You don't have to use reputation all the time, but when you find it necessary.
It is good to give members the recognition they deserve, it can help them feel better!
--------
Disabling/Hiding your Reputation -
Important Note: You must have at least 500 Posts to disable reputation
If for any reason you wish to disable reputation simply go to the UserCP -> Edit Options and deselect the "Show your Reputation" checkbox.
Your green or red reputation will then become a blue box

indicating that you have hidden/disabled your reputation.
You may still give other people reputation, and others may still give reputation to you, but only you will know how much you have.
To re-enable/show your reputation, simply go back into UserCP -> Edit Options and check the checkbox, your blue box will display its normal green or red reputation pips, depending on how much positive or negative reputation you have.
